Arulagam is an organization that works closely with people to protect nature, safeguard rare and endangered plants and animals, promote the welfare of tribal communities, provide education, and improve livelihoods. Based in Coimbatore, the organization operates across three states — Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka ​At Poonthalir, we specialize in growing plants that attract and sustain vital pollinators such as birds, bees, butterflies, and bats. Our nursery actively promotes the use of native bio-fences on farmlands to enhance on-farm biodiversity, protect crops naturally, and improve soil health..

Arulagam has operated its Nursery as a dedicated sister concern for the past two decades, actively supporting its mission of environmental conservation and community development. 

The organization maintains several nursery branches:

• Poonthalir Nursery, Ganeshapuram, Annur, coimbatore

• Poonthalir Nursery ,K​CT College, Coimbatore

• Poonthalir Nursery-Moyar,

• Neithal Nursery, Rameswaram

At these nursery branches, Arulagam prioritizes hiring staff from the local community, and, most notably, women. By providing these opportunities, Arulagam promotes economic survival, empowers individuals, and actively supports the upliftment of lives within its operational regions. This inclusive ap​proach not only strengthens community bonds but also ensures broad participation in conservation efforts, fostering a sustainable future.In addition, we focus on the revival of seven over-exploited plant species and contribute to large-scale ecosystem restoration. With an annual production of over 2.5 lakh saplings across 65 varieties, Poonthalir Nursery is committed to greening landscapes and regenerating life one sapling at a time.
